Golden Ring Tours: Prince and the Frog

This tour is specially designed for school groups and features the traditional arts and crafts of Russia. The tour includes visits to museums and workshops along with demonstrations of how traditional Russian crafts are still practiced today.

Day 1
Your group will depart by bus from Moscow to the ancient capital of Vladimir. Lunch will be followed by a tour of the city and its main cathedrals and the museum of the "Golden Gate. You will visit the museum "Crystal and Varnish miniatures". There will be a demonstration given by one of the masters at the workshop of arts and crafts - "Vladi-world Patterns". This will be followed by dinner in the hotel.

Day 2
Breakfast in the hotel will be followed by an excursion to Vladimir's sister city, Suzdal. There will be a tour of the Suzdal Kremlin, Krestovaya Chamber and the museum of wooden architecture. You will be treated to a bell concert in the Savior-Evfimievsky monastery: One of Russia most famous bell-making locations. After lunch there will be a visit to the "Quilt Club" where you will be given a demonstration in traditional Russian quilt making. You will then return to Vladimir for dinner and spend the night

Day 3
Following breakfast in Vladimir your journey will proceed to Yaroslavl. You will be taken on a tour of Yaroslavl including a visit to the Savior-Transfiguration monastery and the museum "Music and Time". You will also visit a workshop that makes today's Russian icons.

Day 4
After breakfast we continue our journey and travel to Great Rostov. Following a tour of the Rostov Kremlin and the museum of Rostov Enamel we shall have lunch and visit a factory making some of the enamel works for which Rostov is famous. We then travel to Pereslavl-Zalesky to check into our hotel and have dinner.

Day 5
Today begins with breakfast and a tour of Pereslavl-Zalesky including the Savior-Transfiguration cathedral. We then travel to Sergiev Posad (The center of the Russian Orthodox Church) for lunch. Here we will visit the toy museum and also attend a workshop given by a master toy-maker.
Return to Moscow.
